Resume score
Score your CV against a job description from Monkey Hill: how much of the advert’s wording your CV shares — the same match Expertini shows employers when you apply — the advert’s words your CV is missing, and a quick check that an ATS can read your file.
What the resume score measures
It counts the words in your CV and in the advert and measures how alike the two lists are (cosine similarity of word counts, shown as a percentage). It is the number Expertini attaches to your application when you apply for a job through Expertini — so improving it here improves what the employer sees.
- %Word overlap — the more of the advert’s wording your CV uses, the higher the score. It does not judge meaning, layout or quality.
- A–ZMissing words — nouns from the advert that are not in your CV, most-used first. Add the ones that are true for you.
- ATSReadiness check — whether an ATS can read your file and find your sections and contact details.
- Need more? The ATS resume checker scores keywords, job title, experience and results, with fixes.

Most-used in the advert first. Add a word only where it is true for you — and use it the way the advert does.

Resume score for jobs in Monkey Hill: what the number means
The resume score compares the words in your CV with the words in a job description and shows how alike they are, from 0 to 100. Employers in Monkey Hill who receive your application through Expertini see this same number next to your name, so it is worth checking — and improving honestly — before you apply.
How it is calculated
Both texts are split into words and counted. The score is the cosine similarity of the two word-count lists, multiplied by 100: identical wording scores 100, no shared words score 0. Common words count too, so even a strong CV rarely gets close to 100 — compare scores for the same advert rather than aiming for a fixed number. The “missing words” are nouns that appear in the advert but nowhere in your CV, ordered by how often the advert uses them.
What it does not do: it does not understand meaning, check your layout or decide whether you are suitable. For that, use the ATS resume checker, which looks at how an applicant tracking system reads your file, your sections, keywords, job title, years of experience and results.
How to raise your resume score honestly
- Use the advert’s words for skills you really have — “stock control” if the advert says stock control, not only “inventory”.
- Put the job title from the advert in your summary if it describes you.
- Describe duties the advert lists that you have done, with a result.
- Keep a tailored copy of your CV for each type of job — the CV builder makes that quick.
Frequently asked questions
Is this the score employers see?
Yes — when you apply for a job through Expertini, the employer sees a score calculated the same way from your CV and their job description. Applications made on other websites are scored by their own systems.
What is a good resume score?
There is no fixed pass mark. Because ordinary words are counted too, scores for a well-matched CV often sit in the middle of the range. Use it to compare versions of your CV for the same advert: if a change raises the score and the CV still reads well, keep it.
Is my CV stored?
No. The file is read once to calculate the score and then discarded. Your account keeps only the score, the missing words and the readiness result, so you can compare later — on the website and in the Expertini app — and delete any of them.
How many scores can I run?
You need a free Expertini account. Each month a free account includes 5 resume or ATS scores, Premium 25 and Executive 100. The allowance resets on the 1st of the month.
Which files can I upload?
PDF, .docx and older .doc files up to 8 MB. For a PDF, the resume score reads the first page — the same way the score on job applications does — so put your most relevant experience first.
Why is my ATS score different?
The two tools measure different things: the resume score is plain word overlap; the ATS score also checks readability, structure, job title, experience and measurable results.
